[deck 3, transporter room – aft of bridge]
Mike's head was spinning. One moment he was aboard his crumbling ship, the next he was standing in a room with two... different-looking characters looking at him. One appeared to be scanning him with something; what, he couldn't be sure. His dogs were a little on edge, as was he, but he did his best to calm them. When April entered he was a little relieved, though not by much. The captain began talking to him, though his ears were still ringing from the grinding of the collapsing sails against his hull. He would have responded, but the sudden transition to gravity was leaving him rather queasy, and it was all he could do to hold down his last meal. He heard something said about getting a good meal; it made his eyes widen and his stomach revolted at the thought of more food. He took a deep breath and forced his stomach to calm. Looking over at the lieutenant who just came in, he finally was able to clear his head enough to speak.
"Um, hi... Lieutenant? Yeah... we have a little problem; it's been about forty-two days since we last felt gravity and, well, I honestly don't think I could walk three feet let alone to wherever your sickbay is. And neither could these guys." He gestured to his feet where one of the dogs was laying down and the other was leaning against his leg. It was all he could do to stand up straight at this point, the muscles in his legs burning with lack of hard use. As soon as he could he was going to find a place to start running. He had exercised on the SunKite, but in zero gee it really didn't do much except prevent total atrophy. It was then that something suddenly clicked.
"The two that were in here when I arrived, they weren't human were they...." It really didn't come as a shock to him; not much did, but he knew that things were never going to be the same in his life. Things were about to get much more interesting, and this thought made him smile.
