history
- Earth's history in Arcadia also includes real-world history, even current developments.
Evolutionists advocated life's spontaneous growth on Earth and elsewhere, until temporal research disproved the theory, revealing that human life arose overnight on Earth by uncertain means, then expanded throughout the universe. This knowledge was somehow lost, possibly a result of time travel, until the 4th century CE.
While humans began on Earth, they also traveled the galaxy long ago[1], and may have been such races as the Iconians and Preservers. These early humans visited and might have colonized Earth, and/or likely played a role in its continuing history. Corician history revealed that humans directly or indirectly created all known alien forms of life, which in turn influenced Earth's history. Ancient Bajorans introduced the demon gene into humanity's genetic code, and a Reman influenced the rise of Rome.
Vulcans visited pre-warp Earth[2] and established a covert presence.
The Eugenics Wars plagued Earth beginning in the 1990s.
The warp era made Earth an interstellar power, expanding via starships to colonies on other planets, resulting in the creation of Starfleet by 12 CE and the United Federation of Planets (98 CE). This ushered waves of alien immigration that reduced Earth humans to a minority by the 4th century, provoking antagonism in such forms as Terra Prime and the Humanist movement, ultimately causing the Federation civil war. As a result, Earth expelled aliens in 346, partially seceded from the Federation (maintaining detached membership), reactivated its own version of Starfleet, and joined the Arcadian League by 347.
Cireans displaced Earth into a parallel universe in 322 CE, causing environmental damage which Earth (though recovered) continued to suffer in 344, including altered orbit and seasonal patterns.
government
Earth, politically unified as "United Earth" (87-347 CE), removed international boundaries and sovereign organs, though some previous divisions continued to be administered as separate units.[3] Government was centralized in the United Earth Congress, overseen by a president.[4] The Federation president held office on Earth during this period, often in the city of Paris, while Earth's governmental operations were based elsewhere, including San Francisco.
The Federation civil war changed Earth's political structure. The United Earth Congress, seen as a tool of the Federation, became somewhat ineffective as independent countries resurfaced for the first time since global unification, including Erinnya and Driana Zakova's native land. Christopher Pike served as president of Earth in 347[5].

- ^ While there were such areas as Michigan, New England, Britain and so on, there was no United States, United Kingdom, etc.
- ^ How this relates to the role of Federation president, whether they're the same office or (more likely) separate positions held by different individuals, is uncertain.
