"yHamchoH," commanded Klodd.
Hearing Klodd's order for silence, the squadron of five Klingons ceased their battle cries.
Klodd's warrior instinct told him something had changed. His Romulan client had paid him for success and his honor demanded that he succeed. Klodd's vaun'I had told him repeatedly to always trust his instincts; advice Klodd now passed on to his troops.
"Duj tlvoqtaH!"
"qaH?" responded one of his men.
"matlhHa' romuluSnganpu! chIch numagh MaH."
Klodd's instincts had been triggered by the silence of phasers that had continually filled the air until now. Klodd thought to himself: Why had the phasers ceased firing? The ship's automatic defense systems were still active. The holographic crew could not be killed. Scatter their photons and they would only reconstitute and continue their assault.
So why was it now that they ceased fire? Had the prey managed to alter their programming? If so why had they not changed the faux humanoids' programming to focus their attack on Klodd and his warriors? No, the battlefield had shifted, but not in favor of either predator or prey. Klodd could feel the lighter gravity from the floor plating. The corridor lights had dimmed and a soft blue running light began to flash.
The ship had entered a new alert mode. Klodd preferred to hunt in an environment he had some semblance of control over, not the burning house that this ship continued to resemble.
Eyeing his men with all the authority of his blood, Klodd commanded, "meQtaHbogh qachDaq Suv qoH neH! Duj wI-chegh maH!"
Hearing their orders, Klodd's men turned and headed back toward the launch bay, never once lowering their weapons in anticipation, or hopes, of an ambush.
