Eve materialized on the transporter pad aboard the Arcadia. She was still a little on the giddy side, thinking about Andrew. She had had an extraordinary time. Perhaps when time allowed, on her next lumendt, they could return. Or perhaps go to Bartok VII. The beaches on Lake Milazzo were absolutely stunning. And, she was pretty sure there were some nice, secluded coves.
Getting off the turbolift, she hummed lightly to herself as she made her way towards her quarters. She didn't hear a lot of activity... not surprising. Most of the crew was probably wringing as much of their shore leave out as they possibly could. She opened the doors to her quarters and started to step inside.
There was a bright flash of light. And... Eve screamed louder than she ever had in her entire life. She felt... pain... like she had never experienced. She looked down through a sticky, blue haze... and noticed in horror that her skin was torn in several places. Her vision was starting to blur... she was going into shock. As she collapsed to one knee, she knew she only had one option. Her only chance of survival.
Closing her eyes, she concentrated. Suddenly... an overwhelming flash of energy surged through her body. She knew from experience she didn't have long. Hopefully, she wouldn't need it.
Running as fast as her severely damaged body would allow her, she made it to the turbolift. "Deck... five..." she managed to gasp. The doors opened quickly. With her energy already starting to wane, she made it to sickbay... not a moment too soon.
Nurse Layla Roberts had been straightening up. A rare moment of down time... and they needed it. Plus, Dr. Brisk, Dr. Kwyn, and Betty were all down in San Francisco working on Captain April. They had a skeleton crew at best. The only medical emergency was Ensign Langui... who was en route. Fortunately, that was...
Layla dropped her tray of supplies on the floor with a crash. The doors to sickbay had opened... and Layla looked on in absolute horror.
It was Lieutenant Ordalani, Layla thought. She looked like she had been assaulted by rogue Klingons. Blood rushed from everywhere... there were multiple gashes all over her. She didn't know where or how she had been hurt... but how she made it here was a miracle.
Eve opened her mouth to say something... and a gush of blue sludge trickled forth. Damn... this was really bad. Running over, Layla caught Eve just as she started to collapse. She made it over to a biobed, and had just gotten her into it. Activating the controls, she started analyzing Eve's injuries. It was even worse than she anticipated. She needed help... now.
Tapping her com-badge, she said (with more than a hint of panic in her voice), "Nurse Roberts to anyone who can hear me. Lieutenant Ordalani has been severely injured. She looks... God... she looks like a bomb went off inside her. I need medical assistance immediately. And I'm betting whoever jumped Ensign Langui had something to do with this too."
