Perhaps Arcadia's most unusual crew-member, "Fibonacci" was a sentient mathematical expression. Though generally referred to as "male", Fibonacci had no gender and no actual body by conventional understanding. Fibonacci held an honorary rank of ensign, yet this abstract being had no interest in organic hierarchy.

Fibonacci spent most time with the ship's computer, solving mathematical problems for the science department ("number-crunching"). Unbound by physical limitations, "he" could turn up in unexpected places, on or off the ship: on a tricorder or computer screen, or in instances of nature where that nature could be manipulated by rules of the "Fibonacci sequence", from which the name was derived. Visually he appeared as either a diagram, fractal image or series of digits corresponding to his mathematical dimensions. When direct interaction with tangible beings was necessary, he communicated via com-systems or holo-emitters, manifesting a holographic representation, the forms of which could be startling and varied. Due to lacking social skills, he more often utilized his ability to alter or influence mathematical probabilities to make his presence known. It took a trained eye to spot his presence or involvement.
