Following "The Reins"
Patricia Maguire had been in Starfleet her entire life... more or less. Her paternal grandfather was a retired admiral. Both of her parents had served on active fleet duty. Three of her siblings served or had served on ships, and a fourth was two years from joining the rest. She had served on five Starfleet vessels. The Arcadia was her sixth. It could almost be said that Patricia Lorelai Maguire had been bred for service in Starfleet.
That being said, for the first time in years... she was terrified.
Giving the commands on a regular ship was one thing. She was now the first officer again... on the flagship of the fleet. The UFS Arcadia. And she was about to have the ship go into speeds that no one could even comprehend. But... she had to project an image of professionalism. So... here went nothing.
She stood from her chair and took a step forward. "Conn. Set a course, Nonallix B. Heading, 425 mark 19. Maximum warp for one minute... then engage quantum slipstream drive."
Patricia stood... waiting for the inevitable first moment... where she would send a ship into QSD.
