The Winged Victory of Samothrace, as recovered -200 CE

Nike, the Winged Victory of Samothrace depicting the goddess, was crafted on Earth circa 2250 pce, rediscovered -200 ce and later ensconced in the Louvre. Islamists would have defaced this priceless work of art during the 21st century European Upheaval, prompting DTAgents to rescue and transplant it to the 4th century CE.

Temporal observations allowed precise copies of the statue before disfigurement by time to be constructed. One occupied the Starfleet Shipyards entrance in Portland, East Noram; another graced the Starfleet Academy grounds. Nikos Moussakis claimed the original, moving it to New Albany on the planet Arcadia. Between 324 and 344 CE, Klingon terrorists, inspired by the Islamic attack centuries earlier, destroyed what they believed was the original, not knowing that the (disfigured) statue was itself a copy.

Paul Thunder owned a miniature scaled replica of the Winged Victory, a gift from his sister.

In 317 CE, Sculptor, in love with Nike's beauty and craftsmanship, created a holographic replica, the first of the Nikai (Greek, glories). The artist lost interest after initial programming, believing Nike incapable of sentience, but Nike gradually gained awareness, comparable to a human child from birth. Nike spent her "growing up" years in a virtual world, interacting with her creator (unaware of his love for her) and other Nikai.

Around her 26th "birthday" (343 CE), Sculptor nanogenetically transformed Nike; in her new form, Nike had abilities attributed to her namesake, such as winged flight. Her abilities enabled her to travel unaided through the harshest environments of space. Nike repeated Sculptor's process on other Nikai, hoping to create a literal pantheon of god-like figures; some attempts failed, while others succeeded, only for the "new gods" to turn on & destroy each other, with Sculptor a casualty. Nike and the surviving Nikai relocated to Arcadia, where they became celebrities of a sort. Having learned of Sculptor's love before his death, Nike cloned her creator using his nanogenetic process, sparking controversy among some Arcadians.

During the Federation civil war, Nike performed her legendary role as an "angel of the battlefield", personally visiting human soldiers, inspiring them to victory, or comforting the wounded who fought bravely. Occasionally she engaged in direct combat against enemy forces.
