She didn't want to do this in the briefing lounge.  It just felt so... stuffy, in that room.  Formal.  Not her style.  That was one way she differed from her father.  No, it was quicker in aiding the free-flow of necessary information to dispense the mission details out in the open, with all of the officers involved – no guesswork.  For that, she would choose the bridge.
Neria tapped her com-badge, said, "Senior staffers, report to the bridge."
But then again, it was a sensitive subject.  Maybe she didn't want the flow of information to be too free?  Too late now, she decided; she had already made the call and didn't want to appear indecisive.  She'd have to trust the crew to know when to keep their mouths shut.  Kaiel seemed about to retreat from the brain-center of the Arcadia, until Neria halted him with a gesture.  "Hang around, Kaiel.  You expressed an interest in this."  The Sirenn nodded and simply waited.
The new chief engineer, Lieutenant Diaz, entered from the turbolift alongside Eve Ordalani.  The other department heads that needed to be in-the-know were already present – Clicker for sciences, Avi for flight control, Vallien for tactical.  Tueri had come down with something and was in his quarters, where Tabatha was treating him, explaining the absence of both from their primary positions.  The CMO had informed Neria while she was in the ready room, changing into a fresh uniform, after her... reaction, to the Epachan tongue-touch.  They could be informed later.
Once everyone was gathered, Neria stood up at the center of the group and said, "Thanks for being patient.  Now that we're en route, I'll tell you what this is about.  Our mission's simple: Go to the future, take a look around, see if the Federation's intact.  The target year is 2396 – the year I came from.  Since the next question is why – As some of you already know, in my future, the UFP was destroyed, with two forces most directly responsible: The Humanists and the Usurpers.  If you follow the news, you know who the Humanists are.  I won't confuse anyone by trying to explain the Usurpers.  Starfleet sent me back to change history – to make sure they didn't succeed.  I believe I've done that.  For instance, saving my father from what would otherwise have been certain death, and containing the Usurpers."  So far, she thought but didn't say.  "Our job now is basically to make double-sure it stays that way.  Anything we learn about the future, other than that, does not leave this ship.  Is that clear to everybody?  We have to keep it amongst ourselves, in the strictest confidence.  Our mission is simply to see what the near future holds... not to influence it.  Any questions so far?"
