"Oh Lieutenant, I didn't expect to see you so soon." The warrant officer put down the scanner.
"I did not mean to interrupt you," Fade said. "I just wanted to view departure from here."
"You could go to the bridge," Julia suggested.
"I try to avoid the bridge unless I'm needed. It is a place of decisions, and I am one for action." Fade stopped that line of thinking. "I wanted this view, of where we'd been." As he spoke the station began to fall away. It had been his home for some time, and a great place of many experiences.
"I see; well, I've got some more tests to run. Let me know if you need anything." And with that she returned to her endless rows of plants.
"Lieutenant Fade?"
He turned, seeing a face he'd seen only once and that was on a computer screen. Her name was Black. "Yes?" Fade replied.
"I am Nina Black. According to computer I am to report to you? I was not able to do any investigation regarding protocol as the database on my shuttle was locked...." Black blushed as that was normal protocol for her. She had an old-fashioned wrist computer on one wrist and an odd-looking bracelet on the other.
"Here is a PADD with your passwords; just input your highest level pass-code and it will display all others you'll need on this ship. You have an office and adjoining lab. Currently you have one assistant. If you need further resources, let me know, and if anything breaks, call engineering. Any questions?"
"Not at this time. Thank you Lieutenant," Black replied politely. At the lieutenant's dismissal, Black went about the locating of her quarters. The girl yawned, thinking it had been a long day, but she wondered just what had made it so darned long? A sleep would be first priority....
