April existed in alternate timelines and parallel universes. He became aware of several of these counterparts, primarily from differing quantum states, during an encounter (316) with Kaliarktos.

In one alternate reality, 2 married Lacy Lomupo, his Starfleet Academy sweetheart, and fathered a son. He commanded Starbase Montgomery for several years before receiving command of the USS Yorktown. That ship was lost to the Borg before he received command of Arcadia.
In a brutal reality similar to the mirror universe, April's full name was Stephen Robert April. A conflict known as the "Great War" broke out between the Federation and the Klingons in 230, leading to Klingon occupation of the Federation, which ended sometime in the 24th century during April's lifetime. In this reality, April once threatened his insolent helmsman, Milash, with a phaser, and had an avid sexual relationship with his CMO, Jenna Starr.
