[Tip of the hat to Elvis & Bon Jovi in that title]
April-Starr JP
April-Starr JP
April slipped into sickbay quietly, feeling a grin tugging inside. When Betty looked his way, April put a finger to his lips to keep quiet and crept lightly on his feet, the way he used to do when he would sneak food from the guards, up behind Jenna who had her back turned.
He slipped his arms around her waist and said in her ear, "Guess who."
Jenna's heart seemed to jump into her throat as she was grabbed from behind. "Jallez, is that you?" she said as she looked over her shoulder at the perpetrator.
"Hmm. It could be... if that's how you want it." Not his lips, but his voice was smiling, almost. "I wondered just how cozy you two got when you came looking for me, all by yourselves in that tight little ship..."
She reached up with her arms and put her hands gently and warmly on his arms. "We got about as cozy as a Klingon and a tribble can get at one point, but other then that... you don't want to know," she said teasingly as she leaned back into his body.
He mock-gasped in anguish. "Oh... shot to the heart. I guess I came to the right place to be treated, hmm? Always wanted a beautiful woman to play doctor with me. Want me lying down or sitting up?"
Jenna finally smiled. "Whatever makes you more comfortable. I don't know if I could treat you though, you might distract me from the medicine."
"You can be my medicine." He started nibbling on her ear, not caring who saw.
Jenna squirmed and giggled softly. "Stephen... not in front of my staff. It's not proper." She had to admit, she did enjoy it though, and almost had the notion to tell Brisk to watch sickbay while she attended to some personal matters.
"I thought you wanted me to change." Used to be he wouldn't be caught dead doing the things he was doing now in front of others. He twirled her around to face him, mounting an assault of charm as his eyes twinkled in hers. "Look into my eyes," he droned as if a hypnotist. "You can't resist me...."
Jenna couldn't help but broaden her smile at the attention she was receiving now. "Stephen Boone April, what has gotten into you?" she asked, still smiling and wondering what brought this about.
"You, of course." Then he finally did it. His face cracked into a smile, for the first time since Vor'ok Nir. It was like a light came on in the room, revealing whole new planes in his features. "I love you, Jen."
"I love you too Stephen. Are you telling me that you came here all the way from my quarters to tell me that you loved me? I wish I could explore this more with you, but sweetie, at the moment there appears to be a crisis going on with the ship... and time itself."
"Mmm." He nodded. "I noticed. I wish I could say that was my sole reason for coming... but, I'm going down to the planet. Can you spare someone? No telling what might happen to one of us down there."
She gazed into his eyes. "Is there any reason why I can't go?"
"Well, I don't know... there might be." He looked at the ceiling. "Of course, if you were to beg the captain to let you go, he might consider it."
Jenna wasn't sure about the situation. She and Skye had a hard time seeing eye to eye. "Wait a minute... how did you get in charge of an away team?"
"My good looks. My fatal charm." He shrugged. "Course, that got me command of the whole ship again." He looked at her, watching her carefully.
Jenna shifted her weight. "What broke through that thick hide and skull of yours to get you to break down and take command again?"
"I'm a sucker for hard luck cases." He watched her, waiting. "Well? Start begging."
She cozied up to him. "You know I don't beg for anything." She gave him a wink and then a quick kiss.
He made a thoughtful expression. "Well... that MIGHT do it..." A roguish grin parted his lips, revealing pearly whites.
Jenna's attention was broken by Nurse Betty who had made a sound. She looked to him and he motioned that he would be working on some equipment. "So, what is the away mission?"
April straightened slightly, the playful air falling away at the shift in attention. "What do you know about this period in Earth's history?"
Jenna shrugged. "High fears of biological warfare, tense diplomatic situations, minor scuffles between peoples and countries, high pollution in the air, dangerous diseases that we cured long ago...."
April nodded. "And entertainment. They lived for entertainment." He had been perusing the recorded transmissions of a show called, of all things, Star Trek. He turned and started for the door. "Meet me in the shuttle bay in about twenty minutes. Pack light and buckle up, my dear. We're going to Hollywood."
"Hollywood? What's Hollywood?" she asked watching him leave; he was gone before he could answer. She shrugged and called her staff together for an impromptu meeting.
