The United Federation of Planets (UFP), commonly called the "Federation", was an interstellar alliance of governments^[1] spanning, at its greatest extent, some 10,000 light years of the galaxy's Alpha and Beta quadrants. Federation territory centered around Earth and other core systems, including those of founding members Vulcan, Andor and Tellar.
